Who We Are
Supercritical Books is an independent publisher of serious nonfiction for readers who return to books, sit with ideas, and read beyond the summary.
We publish books that reward careful attention, works on AI, personal finance, philosophy, technology, and the texture of everyday thinking. We don't simplify what shouldn't be simplified. Our books honor the complexity of their subjects while remaining accessible to curious readers.
Our Books
We currently publish titles across several categories:
- AI & Cognition: How artificial minds work and what they mean for us
- Personal Finance: Ideas-driven thinking about money and freedom
- Philosophy & Paradox: Accessible explorations of life's big questions
- Thinking Frameworks: Tools for clearer reasoning
- Essays & Observations: Literary nonfiction that notices what others miss
- Tech Realism: Honest assessments of technology's promises and limits
Not Sure Where to Begin?
Here are two books that capture what Supercritical is about:
How Minds Are Made
by Audrey Erbert
A clear guide to what modern AI is, how it learns, and what that implies for reliability, bias, and control. It explains the mechanics in plain language without losing the underlying rigor.
Financial Freedom, Life Freedom
by Marie Ortega-Sterling
A grounded path to financial stability that connects money decisions to time, peace, and real choice. It focuses on building a life your finances can sustain, not a lifestyle you have to chase.
