Submission Guidelines

What we publish, what we're looking for, and how to submit.

Our Philosophy

Before you submit, take a moment with four questions:

  • Does this book ask for careful reading, with ideas that unfold rather than compress?
  • Will it hold up on a second reading, and a third?
  • Will it leave readers thinking differently, with better questions and clearer reasoning?
  • Will readers enjoy the writing itself, not only the information?

If you can say yes to all four, we may be a fit.

What We Publish

We're interested in nonfiction on:

  • Science and technology, especially AI, complexity, and systems thinking
  • Accessible philosophy
  • Psychology of everyday life
  • Personal finance and economics with ideas at the center
  • Essays and literary nonfiction
  • Decision-making and thinking frameworks
  • Cultural criticism and observation

We aim for clarity that respects complexity, and writing that remains readable without diluting the thinking.

Submissions We Rarely Take On

We rarely take on projects where the primary value is:

  • A step-by-step program or numbered framework
  • A business narrative built mainly from success stories
  • A personal story without a larger idea doing the work
  • Work intended for academic specialists
  • Formats that belong better as short pieces than books

How to Submit

Submit via our contact form with "Submission" in the subject.

Please include the following, ideally combined into a single PDF:

Query Letter, 1 page

What is your book about? Why does it need to exist? Why are you the person to write it? Why Supercritical specifically?

Proposal, 10 to 20 pages

Include: overview, chapter outline, comparable titles, target audience, author bio, and marketing ideas.

Sample Chapters, 20 to 40 pages

Your strongest 1 to 2 chapters that demonstrate your voice and the quality of the finished work.

Format everything as PDF. Include your name and book title in headers. If files are large, share a download link.

We respond if we would like to take the conversation further. If you have not heard from us after 8 weeks, feel free to follow up once.

What We Value in Authors

  • Good thinking and good writing
  • A perspective with your fingerprint on it, even when the ideas are familiar
  • Willingness to revise in collaboration
  • A path to readers, whether through a platform, a community, or a body of work
  • Patience for the long edit

Questions

Do I need an agent?

No. We accept unagented submissions.

Do I need a platform?

It helps, but it's not required. Great writing matters more than follower counts.

How long until publication?

Typically 12-18 months from signed contract. Quality takes time.

Do you accept simultaneous submissions?

Yes. Please let us know if you receive an offer elsewhere.

We read every submission that follows these guidelines. If your book rewards attention, changes how readers think, and is written at the sentence level, submit it.
